NihongoUp
Hi!
I would be very thankful if you could give me some feedback on my Japanese educational game & the accompanying website
The game is optimized for touch interfaces (as I'm using it on a multi-touch Tablet PC myself... this also made it easier to port the game to the iPhone) and many UI design decisions were made because of this.
Thank you for your feedback!
Just about the website.
What I like:
- nice, clean and consistent use of color palette, spacing, fonts and icons;
- it's clear right away what it's about and whom it's for;
- it's clear that it runs on multiple platforms and that there's an iPhone app too;
- user is drawn to most important function: download a free trial;
- buy function is clearly next, and you see directly how you can pay;
- other stuff is less important but still clearly visible if one looks for it, and it's also presented that way.
What I like less:
- The example window of the app looks a bit weird, partly embedded in the black bar and the background almost looks transparent because it's close to the grey you used on the site. Not bad per se, it just looks a bit strange to me;
- I didn't recognize the icon after 'via' next to the trial button, but ok. Then I wanted to download it, but it told me I don't have Adobe Air. I never use it and I don't like installing stuff I never use, so I was trying to figure out how I could download it the 'normal way'. Then I figured out that the 'via' icon wás Adobe Air, and so the app probably is too. Might just be me, but I think that letting the user know that it's an Air app and that Air is a requirement would be a useful addition.
But overall: very nice site for promoting your product.
Thank you for your comment Alec!
Would linking the icon to the Adobe AIR website help?
Great site. Right away it tells me what this is and what I get from using it. Not sure if using icons is the best way to communicate some concepts though. For example, I know all the OS icons and the AIR icon, but other people might not. I think you should just say it it works on all systems and requires a free platform called AIR to run. Also may be clearer to say there's also an "iPhone" app, instead of the icon, but it's a nice way to present it :)
I love how you have the press section and all the main links underneath.
I'd add a feature tour page though. People may not be ready to do a free trial and would want to see more pictures of the product and how it works -- I'd show more of the product to them.
